《一》誰在過生日
據說 曾虛白 先生七十九歲大壽時，大家以中國人迷信九字不吉利，正在想要怎麼稱這大壽之慶時。
虛 白 先生說：『那就叫「望八」大壽好了。』
《二》生日最好的祝詞
某文人素來瞧不起暴發戶，偏偏某暴發戶做大壽還重金請他在壽宴上當場揮毫題字祝壽。
生日當天眾目睽睽之下，文人在大匾上奮筆直書：「父死子死孫死」，眾人嘩然，富人一家人更是當場翻臉，要他給個交待。
文人說：『這是最有福氣的事了；如果孫子先死，然後兒子再死，最後才輪到父親死，那豈不是人世間最悲慘的事了嗎？所以這「父死，子死，孫死。」照著順序來，才是人生最有福氣的事呀！』
眾人雖然氣不過，但也無話可說。
